Green coppices and tunnels

One of the greatest parks on the matter of extension in the capital, Marinha do Brasil, is not known only by having tons of spaces for the practice of sports. This beautiful green area between the shores of Borges de Medeiros and Beira-Rio Avenues is remembered by its abundant wealth on fauna and flora.

Its coppices preserve the air humid and a flower carpet which fall from native trees and exotical species, like Ingás, Canafístulas, Timbaúvas, Jerivás and black plum. And there are green tunnels formed by branches that cross themselves and so guarantee shade for walks, jogging and bike riding.

Along the aquatic lane of 10 thousands square meters that cut and run within Recanto Solar, ideal for sunbathing, the guest stumbles upon a variety of birds by the grass. Birds like lapwings, tyrant flycatchers, oven-birds and canaries. In the lakes, with certain luck, the visitor can see little turtles and a large variety of fish.

Recanto da Saudade is the recommended place for watching the sunset, but also a relaxing place for meditation. The park’s structure offers dressing rooms and three parking lots. Two years ago a new lighting was put, the courts were reformed and the gardens rebuilt. Within the 11 hectares of land that go along with a Guaíba riverside, the park offers multiple options: football, tennis, volleyball, basketball, skateboarding, cycling, skating and athleticism courts, soccer field and seven gymnastics apparels.

And, if you enjoy art, there is a good reason for visiting the “sculpture garden”, place that keeps a set of ten art works donated by their own authors who participated on the 1st Mercosul Biennial in 1997. The garden gathers works of latinamerican artists, which were later donated by them, made from hard, lasting materials like rocks, steel, concrete and bricks, and later donated by its creators.
