The flea market, the fair and the water mirror

With lanes surrounded by red Brazilian berry trees, Malvaceae trees, Fabaceae trees, jacaranda, ipês, cypress trees and sycamores, Farroupilha Park – popularly known as Redenção – is one of the most visited places in town, especially on weekends.

On Saturdays there is organic fair which sells food without agrochemicals, cultivated by farmers. On Sundays, the flea market is the main attraction with handicraft products, paintings, pictures, toys, discs, books and antiquarian, all around José Bonifácio Street. Stage to big concerts, the park offers other attractions for its thousands guests.

From soccer field to athleticism track, from the lake with paddle boats to gymnastics equipment, from the mini amusement park all the way to the trains ride that returned to children’s joy. Redenção is also known for sheltering Araújo Vianna auditorium, the Monumento ao Expedicionário, the luminous fountain and the famous water mirror. Moreover there are welcoming environments like the Orquidário (Orchid Garden) and the Alpine, Orient and European nook.

Azorean mill’s replication

Located on a noble city area, Moinhos de Vento Park, or Parcão, conjugates two fundamental qualities to leisure areas at urban centres: to have exercising equipment and proper walking place, other than a fulfilling landscape.

Starting by an Azorean mill’s copy surrounded by an artificial lake full of fishes, turtles and geese, a charming fauna to children. Although it is not an enormous park, Parcão also offers other jogging places. On the other side of Goethe Avenue, for instance, there are soccer fields and skating, tennis and volleyball courts.
