Preserved nature

   Parque Germânia is the first totally fenced park in the capital. Located on Jardim Europa district, next to the real estate enterprise that combine sophistication and elegance, on North Side, has other characteristic that separates it from the other ones: its scenic project. Besides resting gardens for meditation and other than sheltering numerous species of plants and animals, there is a nature reserve where there are dried fields and native plants like fig trees, cork trees, coconut trees, Anacardiaceae trees, among other species.

   It has in its structure a management building, indoor tennis, volleyball, basketball, soccer and bocce courts, a lake, playgrounds, gymnastic equipments and dog space with toys and drinking fountain for dogs of all sizes. On all three playgrounds, children have at their disposal equipments for childish and juvenile recreation, with 24 swings, six slides, a cable car and two ring games.

   It has benches, garbage bins for selective waste collection, full-time security and 105 parking lot vacancies. The park was inaugurated by the city council on March 26th of 2006 as a tribute to the german immigration in Rio Grande do Sul. On this date, the city of Porto Alegre completed 234 years of existence. On a commemorative plaque you can read “In memory of the ones who, with hard work, faith and solidarity built what we are”. The entrance is by Túlio de Rose Avenue, next to Iguatemi and Bourbon Country shoppings. In summer and spring, it works from 6h to 20h. In autumn and winter, from 6h to 19h.
